The Whale at FRAMELESS, a bold new experimental theatre experience
Presented inside FRAMELESS Immersive Art Experience in London, The Whale reimagines Moby Dick through a groundbreaking fusion of live performance and immersive technology, in an exclusive sharing of this bold new experimental work. Across 180° of projected worlds, spatial sound and an original score, audiences are immersed in shifting scenes as performers move through a bespoke physical set, where the boundaries between stage and spectator, digital and physical, dissolve.
Designed for audiences aged 12+, The Whale is a 25-minute experience that pioneers a new hybrid form of immersive theatre. A specially developed system of spatial creative captioning weaves text directly into the projected environment, making language part of the landscape, and storytelling more accessible than ever. This world-first approach responds to a growing demand for more inclusive performance.
Directed by Jack Hardiker-Bresson and Sharon Clark, The Whale is one of just nine projects selected for the Expand category of the Immersive Arts Prize, chosen from more than 2,500 applications nationwide. The Whale invites audiences to step inside the story, bringing the epic scale and emotional intensity of Moby-Dick to FRAMELESS for three days only.
